Personal Communication Devices

Current research shows the increasingly negative effects related to cell phone and smartwatch notifications and communications for adolescents in the classroom. Having these items in the classroom often distracts from an instructional environment that fosters focus, engagement, and productive learning.

Beginning in the 2019-2020 school year, students may have personal communication devices (cell phones and smartwatches) at school during bus room and breakfast before first period begins. Students must have personal communication devices turned off and stored in lockers from the beginning of first period (8:00) through the end of seventh period (3:00) each day. Students may have personal communication devices during afternoon bus room and carpool. Our faculty and staff will work with students to transition to this new procedure as we begin the school year.

We understand that there may be occasions when you need to communicate with your student during the school day. If you need to contact your student, parents and guardians may contact our main office, and we will get the message to your student.
